"I LOVE IT!!!!! It's great -
I can take more classes each semester
so I can complete my degree in a
timely manner and still have time for
my family. You have to be a
disciplined student, as long as you
keep on schedule, you'll be ok. The
instructors that I have had have all
been wonderful.... I wish that PJC
would offer more of a selection of
classes online."
"Distance Learning has been a
great experience for me. I work
10 hours a day and it's hard to find
time to go to the college classroom.
Distance learning has provided me with
an opportunity that would otherwise be
very difficult for me. You can
usually do your work when you have
time off. Yes, there are dates that
assignments are due, but you usually
know what is due ahead of time. I can
do my work at night or on the
weekends. One of the other
conveniences is - you are not spending
time driving to the college - that
time can be spent on class work. In
the classes I have taken, you have to
be self-motivated and there is a lot
of reading. If you apply yourself,
you too can do it."
"Distance Learning has been a
blessing this term. I was working
full-time up until a few weeks ago
when I had to go on maternity leave.
DL has enabled me to continue going to
school full-time when I know I would
not have made it to physical classes.
The DL program is very flexible and
allows me to work when it’s convenient
to me (even if it is 2:30 in the
morning) and I can sit down in the
privacy of my home, listen to music,
and RELAX while doing my work. It
definitely isn’t for everyone,
however. Some people may miss the
personal interaction that other
classes have, and I know it would be
very easy to neglect the school work.
It takes a lot of dedication and
self-discipline to succeed. One thing
that helped me is I went out and
bought a calendar so I could write
down important test dates and when
assignments are due, and I put the
calendar up where I see it every time
I walk in the door to remind me to do
my work."
"I work full-time and live 50
miles from Pensacola. I would not
have been able to travel to Pensacola
to take this class with my schedule.
I also look forward to more classes
under [instructor] in the future. She
explains things and is always
available when needed."
"I took one class last semester
and three this semester. Had
distance learning classes not been
available, I probably would not have
returned to school. All my classes
have been delivered via the Internet.
I prefer classes that do not require
me to come to the campus. With these
four classes, I have only had to take
one test at the testing center which
technically could have been taken
online. So bottom line, better
selection, no travel...."
