Distance Learning Courses vs. Hybrid Courses
When visiting the eCoast Campus you will notice some recent changes.
Specifically, PJC is now offering courses that replace some portion of on-campus
meetings with online activities. The same amount of material is covered
but fewer face-to-face class sessions are required: a plus for people with
full course schedules or busy work schedules. These new courses are called
"Hybrid" courses and you can expect to see a number of them added to the eCoast
list of courses in the near future. While course numbers for "Distance
Learning Courses" end with a "W" (for example MUH 2011W), Hybrid course numbers
end with a "J" (for example EDG 2701J). More importantly, Distance
Learning courses require no campus visits -- Hybrid courses do.
Regardless of course type it is always a good idea to
click on the "courses" link above and check the section syllabus for
any given course,
prior to registering. This step will provide valuable information
regarding specific course requirements. For example, although Hybrid courses require some on-campus
activity, the actual amount of time you will spend on-campus may vary from
course to course.
