What is distance learning?
Distance learning is a formal educational process in which the majority of
the instruction occurs when the students and instructor are not in the same
place. Currently, PJC offers one method of distance learning course

How do I know if distance learning is right for me?
There are four things you can do to determine whether or not distance
learning is for you:

How do I register for a distance learning course?
Once you have determined whether or not distance learning is for you, check
the eCoast Campus web site for a list of current course offerings. If you
are new to PJC please contact the Admissions Office for instructions. If
you are a current PJC student, register for any distance learning course in the
same way you register for on-campus courses.

Are distance learning courses more expensive than on-campus courses?
Tuition for distance learning courses is the same as courses offered
on-campus. However, every distance learning course requires the student to pay
an additional $25.00 Distance Learning fee.

Will I ever have to come to campus during the course?
Since this requirement varies from course, please contact the instructor of
the course the most current information.

How much do I need to know about computers to take a distance learning
course?
Although you do not have to be a computer wiz, you should be able to
send/receive email (with or without attachments) and download/upload files. You
should also be familiar with the current learning management system used by PJC
(ANGEL).

Are distance learning courses easier than those on-campus?
No. In fact, due to the added responsibility placed on the student for
managing his/her time independently, distance learning course can be more
difficult.

Do distance learning courses appear any different on my transcript than
courses I have taken on campus?
All PJC distance learning courses are equal to their on-campus counterparts
in terms of content, objectives, and outcomes. Consequently, all courses are
indicated alike on transcripts, regardless of mode of delivery.

Can I complete my entire program with distance learning courses only?
Yes. PJC currently offers two Associate of Arts degrees online: General
Studies and Business. A certificate program is also offered in Office
Management (Clerk CT).
